SENIOR REPRESENTATION

A couple of shout outs this week, Stephen Monk took a 5 wicket hall for the 2nd XI in their very narrow 5 wicket defeat against Bredbury St Marks in the T20 Cup.

Amelia Leech for the women’s 1st XI in their T20 match against Lindow. Amelia along with Katherine Monk have been appearing regularly for the women’s team this season and put in some really good performances so really well done to both and apologies for posting about it sooner.

JUNIOR MATCHES

UNDER 11s and UNDER 13s HIGH PEAK LEAGUE

The Under 13s hosted Marple on Monday. Despite the heatwave we have all been enjoying, a thunder shower moved over Highfield Road just as the 2 teams were completing their warm ups. We patiently tried to wait out the shower but, with no signs of the rain stopping and dark clouds looming in every direction the decision was made to call off the match.

The under 11s faired a little better at Bredbury St Marks on the same evening but were thwarted by the weather 5 overs into their innings. Things were looking promising at 36 for 2 with a rapid 16 from 16 balls by Thomas Goodred but no result was possible.

UNDER 11s CHESHIRE LEAGUE

The under 11s returned to action the following day hosting a very strong Brooklands team in the Cheshire League.

There was no weather intervention this time but the team couldn’t get the better of one of the strongest local teams. Nathan scored 13 no out, and Rohail made 8 not out on debut and Arthur scored 20 in a total of 98 for 11 (net score of 254).

Brooklands batted very deep with 7 of their 10 players making double figure scores. There were wickets for Noah, Habiba (2) Stanley (2) and Ben (and a run out) and, in general a very tidy bowling performance with just 5 wides and 2 no balls (less in fact than our opponents) but their batting was just too strong resulting in a score of 169 for 7 and an 87 run win.
